About 若姫劇団 WAKAHIME

若姫劇団 (WAKAHIME) is a creative company presenting contemporary drama, human-interest plays, period drama and dance-and-song revues. Alongside our own stage productions we appear in theater and screen work, and take on supervision, direction and event production. Rooted in Japanese classical dance and drawing in song, dance and comic storytelling from every tradition, we make theater where performers and audience become one — for every generation.

  愛望美 (Ai Nozomi)Company Lead

  Born in Ibaraki. Joined 若葉劇団 in 1997 and trained through tours across Japan before founding 若姫劇団 in 2010. Known as 谷根千の愛姫, she sustained a monthly residency in Yanaka, Tokyo, and plays male and female roles alike. A frequent choreography and acting coach for network television drama. Trained in Japanese classical dance, traditional movement and kimono dressing.

  愛美萌恵 (Aibi Moe)

  Vice Lead

  Born in Saitama. Studied classical ballet from the age of three and performed with a ballet company, then read dance and music across genres at an arts high school. After appearing as a backing dancer on programmes including 年忘れにっぽんの歌, she joined 若姫劇団 in 2011. Trained in classical ballet, dance, Japanese classical dance, traditional movement and kimono dressing.
