About 若姫劇団 WAKAHIME GEKIDAN
若姫劇団 (WAKAHIME GEKIDAN) is a creative company whose work runs from our own productions of period drama, contemporary drama and song-and-dance revues to appearances in theater and screen work, and on to supervision, direction and event production. Rooted in Japanese classical dance and drawing in song, dance and comic storytelling from every tradition, we make theater where performers and audience become one — for every generation.
Company Lead愛望美 (Ai Nozomi)
Born in Ibaraki. Joined 若葉劇団 in 1997 and trained through tours across Japan before founding 若姫劇団 in 2010. Known as 谷根千の愛姫 — Megohime of Yanesen, the endearing princess of Tokyo's old Yanaka, Nezu and Sendagi quarters — she sustained a monthly residency there, and plays male and female roles alike. A frequent choreography and acting coach for network television drama. Trained in Japanese classical dance, traditional movement and kimono dressing.
Vice Lead愛美萌恵 (Aibi Moe)
Born in Saitama. Studied classical ballet from the age of three and performed with a ballet company, then read dance and music across genres at an arts high school, appearing on stage and on television while still a student. Joined 若姫劇団 in 2011. Trained in classical ballet, dance, Japanese classical dance, traditional movement and kimono dressing.
